Fortunately the EVENTS section remains unaffec...
Established in 2001, the Isle of Wight Section
has made big strides since its creation and now caters for
some 60 VMCC members on the Isle of Wight. During the riding
season, social runs, both on the Island and Mainland take
place and there is a Winter programme of indoor activities.
In particular the Section stages an annual event for pre 1931
machines in September. The 'September Scurry' has seen support
grow from 12 entrants in 2002 to over 40 in 2005 and is an
unusual and sociable event. Island members bikes cover the
whole spectrum from early pioneers made before 1910, to superbikes
of the 1970's. The Section can also provide static displays
of our machines to enhance other club and organisations events.
Whatever your particular vintage motorcycling interest the
Section will cater for it, and you do not have to own a machine
to join us.
The Vintage Motorcycle Club was formed
in 1946 by a band of 38 enthusiasts and total membership today
stands at over 14000, but because it is formed of regional
Sections, this has been achieved without loss of camaraderie
or helpfulness. The principal function of the VMCC is to provide
an organisation that offers a wide range of benefits to anyone
having an interest in motorcycles or three wheelers over 25
years old. The Club is organised into 78 autonomous Sections
that hold their own events and meetings, with support from
a fully staffed Head Office based in the Midlands. Further
information on the VMCC and the benefits available can be
found at their web site by clicking the logo on this page.
Isle of Wight Section Club nights are held
on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of
every month (from about 8:0pm) and we would be very pleased
to see you even
if you are not a VMCC member. Venues for these meetings are
The Cricketers Rest (East End of Ventnor Botanical Gardens).
